Baden Powell Campground
Details
A popular campsite located within Lane Poole Reserve, Baden Powell Campground is actually two sites: ‘Old’ Baden Powell and ‘New’ Baden Powell. ‘Old’ Baden Powell includes campsites Nanga and Nanga Mill and is a large camping area suitable for groups and larger vans/vehicles. Sites operate on a first come basis and cannot be booked.
‘New’ Baden Powell sites are suited for families and smaller, including Charlies Flat, Chuditch, Stringers, Tonys Bend and Yarragil. These must be booked online at www.dpaw.wa.gov.au at least two days in advance.
These campsites are situated within Lane Poole Reserve.
A popular park 100kms south of Perth near the town of Dwellingup, the Reserve comprises around 55,000 hectares of forests and valleys and is ideal for picnics and bushwalking.
The lovely Murray River is a feature of the park, and attracts visitors keen on canoeing, fishing and swimming.
Camping is very popular here and the Baden Powell campsites are extremely well set up and some have wheelchair access.
Bring your own water and firewood, as wood may not be collected within the reserve, and please keep your dog on a leash. In summer, a fire ban applies.
Baden Powell (also known as New Baden Powell)
The new Baden Powell was opened in 2013. It has three undercover camp kitchens with gas barbeques, cold water taps (collected rainwater), dishwashing sinks, food preparation surfaces and dining tables and benches.

StringersStringers is located along the Murray River and has just six camp sites that are only suitable for tents and are ideal for families.

This site on the Murray River banks has 13 separate, individual camp sites that are suitable for tents. Ideal for families, Tony’s Bend offers barbecue pits, picnic tables, toilets and rubbish bins.
Yarragil
A busy day use area for canoeing and swimming, Yarragil is small and pretty with just two camp sites suitable for tents only. Picnic tables and toilet.
Charlies Flat
Popular for canoeing swimming and fishing, Charlies Flat is right on the banks of the Murray River. There are 16 separate, individual camp sites with four of them large enough for small caravans or camper trailers. Equipped with bbq pits, picnic tables, toilets and rubbish bins.
Old Baden Powell (formerly Baden Powell)Close to the Murray River, this is an open campground (without separate individual camp sites) that is ideal for small groups camping together. Baden Powell has excellent facilities, good access to the river, and caters for caravans and other large vehicles. Facilities are barbecue pits, picnic tables, toilets and rubbish bins.
Nanga TownsiteNanga Brook flows through this site which has six camp sites suitable for tents and campervans. There are picnic tables and benches and fireplaces with a barbeque plate.
Nanga MillThe largest open campground in Lane Poole Reserve, Nanga Mill has space for 55 large tents, large campervans, camper trailers or caravans. Wood barbecues, toilets, bin and picnic tables are provided and water is also available.
