Drakesbrook Place

Waroona Arts & Culture

Details

Drakesbrook is the original name for the town of Waroona, and Drakesbrook Place is the town’s square.

Waroona's town square provides a central meeting place with its informal picnic and seating areas, an amphitheatre, stage and public facilities. An ongoing commitment by the local community sees a number of artworks in various mediums created to reflect and celebrate Waroona past and present. It is beside Memorial Hall, a classic early Art Deco civic building designed by architects Powell, Cameron and Chisholm.

It opened on 4 December 1934 and featured a built-in bio-box for showing movies.
