Jarrahdale Pre-Federation Walk Trail
Details
A pleasant walk leaving from the Old Post Office Museum, this trail features sites and buildings significant to pre-Federation Jarrahdale.
Park at the Old Post Office which commenced as a telegraph office in 1895, then continue to the 1872 Mill Site (Jarrahdale’s first timber mill) and the Miller’s Cottage, a fine building used to entertain timber company visitors and directors. Next is the Murray Arms Hotel, first licensed in 1886 and now the Jarrahdale Tavern, and the Anglican Church of St. Paul, circa 1896 and the Roman Catholic Church circa 1950.
A cemetery next door represents the lasting reminder of Jarrahdale’s past, as does the site of the old town workers houses known as Crocks Cottages.
The sites of the Methodist Church and Manse are next, then the relics of the bridge over Gooralong Brook build in 1902 and the Old Railway Formation, originally the Jarrahdale to Rockingham tramway.
